GTX 33/33D

The GTX 33/33D transponders are remote mounted and require a display/control interface as provided by
the Garmin GTN 6XX/7XX Series Navigators in order to be installed in accordance with this STC. Basic
transponder functions of the GTX 33/33D are identical to that GTX 330/330D, only the GTX 33/33D are
remote mounted. As the GTX 33/33D installation requires the use of the GTN, many optional functions
are not required because control of the GTX is then handled through the GTN.
The Garmin GTX 33/33D transponder(s) communicates with the on-side GTN 6XX/7XX through RS-
232 digital interface. This STC installation allows for installation of two GTX 33 non-diversity
transponders, two GTX 33D Diversity transponders, or one of each type.
Power is provided by the aircraft's existing Avionics Bus. Each non-diversity GTX 33 transponder
interfaces with a transponder antenna mounted to the bottom of the fuselage whereas each GTX 33D
diversity transponder interfaces to a transponder antenna mounted to the top of the fuselage as well as the
antenna mounted to the bottom.
Figure 4 provides a summary of the interfaces provided for the GTX 33 or GTX 33D.
