3. Features of Each DKV Series

The Disklavier was first brought to market in 1987. Three upgraded series have been introduced since that time, as
follows.
• 1992/9
MARKII SERIES
• 1997/2
MARKIIXG SERIES
• 2000/4
MARKIII SERIES
The main features of each series are as follows.
MARKII SERIES (UP & GP)
• Box-type controller (on GPs only)
• Half-pedal recording and playback
• Self-calibration of playback tables (pedals and keyboard)
• Ensemble recording (no internal tone generator)
MARKII XG SERIES (UP & GP)
• New controller (more compact than MARKII controller)
• Built-in flash memory
• Built-in XG tone generator
• Support for 2HD floppy disks
• Support for standard MIDI files Format 0, 1
• PC interface
• Control-sheet programs can be rewritten from floppy disk.

MARKIII SERIES (GP only, as of 2000/4)

Models come in three categories:
1. Playback only: DGA1, DGP1
2. Record & playback (no Hammer Sensor) with CD drive: DGH1A, DGA1A, DC1A, DC2A
3. Record & playback, with CD drive: DC3A, DC5A, DC6A, DC7A
• Silent function (Record & playback models and DGP1)
• New Key Sensor (1-beam continuous calibration)
• New 16MB piano tone generator
• High-power high-efficiency key solenoids
• Speaker unit
• Power-supply unit, MN unit, and XG tone generator are built into the Amplifier Box
• CD drive (Record & playback models)
• New controller (more compact than MARKII XG controller)
• 16MB program flash for song memory (same as EMK1)
• Smart Key function
• Control sheet, PK-CTL sheet, Sensor sheet, and DPS sheet all include flash ROM
• Programs can be upgraded from floppy disk
