4. Align the holes in the mounting flange of the
tilt-steering column, the holes in the steering support,
and the threaded holes in the steering valve
5. Apply medium-grade, thread-locking compound to the
4 bolts (3/8-16 x 1-1/4 inch).
6. Assemble the column, plate, and valve with the 4 bolts
(3/8-16 x 1-1/4 inch) included in this kit and the 4
washers (3/8 inch), that were removed in step
3 Removing the Fixed-Steering Column (page
shown in
Figure
9.
7. Torque the bolts to 37 to 45 N-m (27 to 33 ft-lb).
8. Torque the clamp block bolts, that you loosened in step
2
of
(page
), to 1978 to 2542 N-cm (175 to 225 in-lb).
Installing the Console Panel
1. Apply medium-grade, thread-locking compound to the
4 hex-flanged bolts (5/16 x 1 inch) that you removed
in step
1
of
(page
).
2. Align the holes in the kick panel with the clip nuts at
the console

3. Assemble the panel to the console with the 4
hex-flanged bolts

4. Torque the flanged-head bolts to 1978 to 2542 N-cm
(175 to 225 in-lb).

Installing the Steering Wheel
No Parts Required
Procedure
1. Apply medium-grade, thread-locking compound to the
threads of the steering-wheel shaft.
