Manually setting up the Linksys RE9000
In situations where you want to bypass the Linksys RE9000 MU-MIMO Range Extender's setup
wizard, you can follow the steps below to manually configure the range extender.
NOTE: This article assumes that your Linksys RE9000 is on factory defaults. To reset the Linksys
RE9000, press the Reset button for 5 seconds.
Step 1:
Turn ON the Linksys RE9000 and wait for the light indicator to blink orange.
Step 2:
Using a wireless device, locate and connect to the Linksys Extender Setup Wi-Fi.
Step 3:
Once connected, open a browser and go to
http://extender.linksys.com
to launch setup.
NOTE: If the Linksys RE9000 has not detected a DHCP server, it defaults to its IP address,
192.168.1.1.
Step 4:
Click the Manual Setup link at the bottom.

  • Page 6 5. Does my Linksys RE9000 support MAC Filtering? Yes. If you set up Mac Filtering on your Linksys RE9000 you must also setup Mac Filtering on your existing wireless router. Otherwise you are only allowing or preventing clients to connect to the Linksys RE9000 but you still need to configure Mac Filtering on any other Wireless router, Access Point or Extender that you have in your network to allow or prevent clients.

    3. Why can’t I find the Linksys Extender Setup in my Wi-Fi list? Make sure the light on the Linksys RE9000’s front panel is blinking orange. If you still can’t see the setup network, move the Wi-Fi device being used to set up closer to the Linksys RE9000. Wait for the blinking orange light and refresh the list.
  • Page 8 NOTE: When you move around your home, your wireless devices may not disconnect from the router until they lose Wi-Fi signal. This may occur even if the Wi-Fi signal from the Linksys RE9000 is stronger (and vice versa). If you are having connection issues, select the Wi-Fi with stronger signal.

Step 9: Change the administrative password of your Linksys RE9000 then Save settings. QUICK TIP: An optional password hint will help you recall your admin password if you forget it.
