Notes:
1. Set DIP switches only when the printer is off.
2. IBM mode means IBM Proprinter emulation mode.
3. User-defined characters are backed up in non-volatile memory only in ESC/P mode. When you
select IBM mode using DIP switch 1-4, the printer deletes the user-defined characters and copies
the built-in character table in ROM to the user-defined area at power on.
4. When you use the user-defined character set as the default character set (by turning on DIP switch
2-1), the ESC & (define character) and ESC : (copy character graphics) commands are not valid.
5. DIP switches 3-4, 3-5, and 3-6 are used for the paper memory function. (See the section on the
paper memory function later in this chapter for more information.)
6. The skip over binding function is used to print multi-part forms with binding that scratches the print
head during paper feeding. If you turn on DIP switch 3-7, the print head parks away from the
binding during paper feeding. This helps avoid paper jams. The throughput (data processing rate)
is reduced when skip over binding is selected.
7. The form feed code (OCH) is ignored when the printing line is at the top of form position, DIP
switch 2-1 is on, and the printer is in IBM mode.
