Scanning Tips
Usually, scanning is a simple matter of aiming, scanning, and
decoding. It is generally mastered simply and intuitively after a few
quick test scans. Two important considerations can optimize any
scanning technique — range and angle.
Range
The best scanning range depends on the size of the bar code and the
density of it, but most combinations work at a distance of about 12
inches.
In general:

Hold the scanner farther away for larger symbols.
•
Move the scanner closer for symbols with bars that are close
together.
