Engine Oil

In order to limit the ash amount accumulated in the diesel particulate filter, an engine oil
with reduced ash formation is required. This oil must meet the specification ACEA C1
(equivalent to the Japanese specification JASO DL-1) and is also termed as low SAPS
(Sulphate Ash, Phosphor, Sulphur) oil, since it has a reduced proportion of these
components.
NOTE: The use of engine oil with a higher ash formation is strictly forbidden as this can lead
to blockage of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). The usable filter volume would be
reduced significantly due to the higher ash amount deposited in the DPF. As a result,
the regeneration intervals are shortened, so that the fuel consumption and hence the
oil dilution are increased.
