Features
Bridging IP Islands
Organizations that uses IP based video conferencing internally in their LAN but not for external purposes can be
called "IP Islands". If a user in one IP island wants to call another user in another IP island, both organizations
have to be connected with a Gateway. The TANDBERG Gateway can help the user to set up this type of call
automatically without the need of invoking touch tones under call setup.
To dial to a remote IP endpoint through two Gateways, the calling IP endpoint has to combine the dialed number
from:
A Service Prefix at the first Gateway,
The ISDN number of the second Gateway,
• One star character ("*"),
The extension address (E.164 alias) of the endpoint to dial.
T
NOTE
HE SECOND GATEWAY MUST HAVE
IN THE PREVIOUS SECTION
Example:
• An H.323 Service prefix for outgoing video calls is defined as "0" (default).
• The second gateway has the ISDN number 67121212.
• The user wants to dial to an endpoint in the other network that has a E.164 alias 5012345.
• The user dials to "067121212*5012345".
• The user will get displayed poster from the first, then from the second Gateway.
• Audio and video are transported through the gateway when the call is connected.
