Symptom
A tape cannot be inserted.
The remote commander does
not function.
You cannot watch or r ecord
PAY-TV/Canal Plus
programmes.
"L2" does not appear in the
display window .
The SMARTLINK function
does not work.
The tracking meter does not
appear on the TV scr een.
You cannot contr ol other TVs.
The VCR needs to be cleaned.
Remedy
• Check that a tape isn' t already in the tape
compartment.
• Make sur e you ar e pointing the r emote commander at
the r emote sensor on the VCR.
• Replace all the batteries in the r emote commander with
new ones if they ar e weak.
• Make sur e the TV / VIDEO remote contr ol switch is
set cor rectly.
• Check that the decoder is connected cor
• Check that the OPTIONS-2 menu and the TUNER
menu ar e set cor rectly.

• Check that DECODER/LINE2 in the OPTION-2 menu
is set to LINE2.
• Check that your TV complies with SMAR TLINK,
MEGALOGIC, EASYLINK, Q-Link, or EURO VIEW
LINK.
• Make sur e you use the optional EURO-A V cable to
connect the VCR and your TV .
• Make sur e the EURO-AV cable is connected secur ely.
• The recording condition of the tape is ver y poor and
tracking cannot be adjusted.
• The tracking meter does not appear when playing back
an NTSC-recor ded tape.
• Set your TV' s code number . The code number may
change when you r eplace the batteries of the r
commander .
• Clean the cabinet, panel and contr ols with a dr y, soft
cloth, or a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild
deter gent solution. Do not use any type of solvent,
such as alcohol or benzine.
