    How to use this manual • Before operating the deck, connect your deck by referring to “Getting Started.” • This manual mainly explains operations using the remote, but the same operations can also be performed using the buttons on the deck having the same or similar names.

    Playing a disc with MP3 files About MP3 files MP3 (MPEG 1 Audio Layer-3) is a standard technology and format for compressing a sound sequence. The file is compressed to about 1/10 of its original size. Sounds outside the range of human hearing are compressed while the sounds we can hear are not compressed.

    Unpacking Check that you received the following items: • Audio connection cords (2) • Remote commander (remote) (1) • Sony R6 (size-AA) batteries (2) Inserting two R6 (size AA) batteries into the remote Note If you do not use the remote for a long period of time, remove the batteries to avoid possible damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
  • Page 8 2 Connect the deck to an amplifier. Connect the amplifier to the ANALOG IN/ OUT jacks using the audio connecting cords (supplied), making sure to match the color-coded cords to the appropriate jacks on the components: red (right) to red and white (left) to white.

    Changing the pitch of the — Pitch Control Function You can change the pitch of the MD by lowering the playback speed. The tone falls at lower pitches.     MD – Recording Before you start recording MDs (MiniDisc) let you digitally record and play music with high quality sound. Another feature of MDs is track marking. The track marking feature lets you quickly locate a specific point or easily edit the recorded tracks. However, depending on the source you record, the recording method and the way the track numbers are recorded differ.

    If the problem persists, reset the deck as follows: Turn off the deck and unplug the AC power cord. Reinsert the plug into the power outlet while pressing down ?/1. Should any problem persist even after resetting the deck, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
