Commissioning
For commissioning purposes,
you will need:
– Approx. 2 L of water
– Approx. 2 kg (4 lbs) of reactivation
salt
– Detergent for commercial
dishwashers
– Rinse aid for commercial
dishwashers
Suitable products are available from
Miele Professional.
Every dishwasher is tested at the
factory. There will be residual water in
the machine from this test. It is not an
indication that the dishwasher has
been used previously.

Reactivation salt

In order to achieve good cleaning
results, the dishwasher needs to
operate with soft water. Hard water
results in a build-up of calcium deposits
on dishes and in the dishwasher.
Water supplies with a hardness level
higher than 4 gr/gal (4 °d) need to be
softened. This occurs automatically in
the integrated water softener. The water
softener is suitable for a water hardness
level of up to 37 gr/gal (36 °d).
The water softener requires reactivation
salt.

If the water in your area is very soft
and consistently lower than 5 gr/gal
(5 °d), you do not have to add
reactivation salt. The salt refill
indicator is switched off automatically.

Dishwasher detergent will
damage the water softener.
Do not fill the salt reservoir with
powder or liquid detergent.

Use only special, coarse-grained
reactivation salt or other pure
evaporated salt.
Other types of salt may contain
insoluble components which can
cause the water softener to
malfunction.
