FILE ERROR

Messages
Meaning
 The file cannot be read.
 The file is not normal.
The maximum number of
the folders you can record
is reached.
The built-in flash memory
was formatted on a
computer.
The player cannot be
operated because the
HOLD switch is set to the
HOLD position.
The battery is low.
There is a problem with
the built-in flash memory.
 The player ran out of
memory during
recording.
 You started recording
when memory was low.
Remedy
Transfer the normal audio
file back to the computer
and then format the
player. For details, see "To
delete abnormal data from
the built-in flash
memory" (  page 98).
The maximum number of
folders you can record on
the player is 255. Delete
unnecessary folders ( 
page 76) and start
recording again.
Format the player using
the "Format" menu. For
details, see "To delete
abnormal data from the
built-in flash memory"
(  page 98).
To operate the player, slide
the HOLD switch to the
opposite position ( 
page 10).
You must charge the
battery (  page 78).
Transfer the normal audio
file back to the computer
and then format the
player using the "Format"
menu. For details, see "To
delete abnormal data from
the built-in flash
memory" (  page 98). If
this message still appears,
consult your nearest Sony
dealer.
The recording time
depends on the free space
of the internal flash
memory. Delete
unnecessary songs ( 
page 74), and start
recording again.
Also, when the message
keeps on displaying, press
and hold the DISPLAY/
HOME button to release
the recording mode.
