OIL PUMP DRIVE REMOVAL

Remove or Disconnect
1. Oil pump drive to block bolt.
2. Oil pump drive by lifting and turning.

REMOVAL

Tool Required:
J 8037 Piston Ring Compressor
I++I Remove or Disconnect
1. Mark the piston with the number of the cylinder
from which it is being removed.
2. Mark the connecting rod and the rod cap so that
they can be reassembled correctly.
3. Turn the crankshaft to bottom dead center.
Clean
• Carbon from the top end of the cylinder.
NOTICE:
If there is a pronounced ridge at the
top of the piston travel, this ridge must be
removed with a ridge reamer before removing
piston and connecting rod assembly.
4. Connecting rod cap.

NOTICE:
Install thread protector to avoid
damage to the crankshaft journal, refer to
Figure 18.
CAUTION: Use care when handling
the piston. Worn piston rings are
sharp and may cause bodily injury.
5. Connecting rod and piston assembly. Push out
with a suitable tool.
• Do not use force. Avoid breaking piston rings
and damaging the piston.
