CAB AND BODY MOUNTINGS 1-134
CONDENSER ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
NOTE: When refrig era tio n sy ste m components
other than the com p resso r a re replaced, com p res­
so r must a lso be rem oved and o il drained from
com p ressor if o il w as sprayed in copious am ounts.
See "Checking C om pressor Oil L evel and Adding
Oil" explained p reviously.
1. D ep ressu rize the refrigeration sy stem .
2. Rem ove radiator g r ille or tilt the cab.
3. Rem ove co m p resso r discharge hose clamp
at condenser inlet.
4. R em ove hose from condenser inlet. Plug
openings.

. D isconnect hex nut connection at condenser
outlet, then plug openings.
. Rem ove four condenser assem b ly retaining

bolts and rem ove condenser.
7. R eplace by rev ersin g the above p roced ures,
using a new rubber O -ring s e a l w ell lubricated with
clean com p resso r o il at lin e connection.
. Evacuate and charge sy stem .

9. Make a perform ance te st.
RECEIVER-DEHYDRATOR ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
NOTE: When refrigeration sy ste m components
other than co m p resso r are replaced, the com p res­
so r must a lso be rem oved and o il drained from
co m p resso r if o il w as sprayed in copious amounts
due to leak s or co llisio n damage to r e c e iv e r -d e ­
hydrator. See "Checking C om pressor O il L evel
and Adding Oil" explained previou sly.
1. D ep ressu rize the sy stem .
2. D isconnect in let and outlet connections of
r e c e iv e r at receiver-dehyd rator a ssem b ly and
plug openings.
3. Loosen the receiver-deh yd rator assem b ly
clam p sc re w s and rem ove assem b ly .
4 . R eplace the receiver-d ehyd rator assem bly
by rev ersin g the p revious p rocedu res, using new
rubber O -ring se a l, w ell lubricated with clean com ­
p r e sso r o il, at lin e connection.
5. Evacuate com plete sy stem .
. Charge com plete sy stem .

7. Make perform ance te s t.
CONSOLE ACCESS PANEL AND
HEATER COVER REPLACEMENT
(ALUMINUM TILT CAB)
1.
R em ove p a ssen ger sea t and platform as
p reviou sly d escribed in "Cab and Sleeper Com­
partment" in "ALUMINUM TILT CABS" (SEC. ID).
2. Loosen sc r ew s that retain panel a c c e ss
cover to panel reinforcem ent brace, con sole panel,
and heater cover. R em ove a c c e s s cover from cab.
3. L oosen sc r e w s retaining heater cover to
panel reinforcem ent and console p an el. Remove
a ir conditioning outlets from air distributor. R e­
m ove heater cover from cab.
4. To in stall c o v ers sim ply r e v e r se rem oval
p roced u res. B e su re s e a ls located on edges of
a c c e s s panel and heater covers are in p lace before
tightening sc re w s.
EXPANSION VALVE REPLACEMENT
(ALUMINUM TILT CAB)
(R efer to F igures 1 and 3)
NOTE: When refrigeration sy stem com ponents
other than co m p resso r are replaced the com p res­
so r m ust a lso be rem oved and o il drained from
co m p resso r, if o il was sprayed in copious amounts
due to leak s or co llisio n damage to valve. See
"Checking C om pressor O il L evel and Adding Oil"
explained p reviously.
REMOVAL
1. R em ove a c c e s s panel and heater cover as
d escrib ed previously in this section , under "Con­
so le A c c e ss P anel andH eater Cover R eplacem ent."
2. D ep r essu rize the sy stem .
3. Loosen the clamp retaining the high p r e s ­
su re lin e s to the expansion valve.
4. D isconnect the capillary bulb from the evap­
orator outlet pipe (located just below the P.O .A .
valve).
5. D isconnect the
P .O .A . valve and cap the connections.
. D isconnect the expansion valve inlet and

outlet connections and cap the lin e s.
7. R em ove expansion valve-to -b rack et mount­
ing scr ew and rem ove expansion va lv e. BE CARE­
FUL NOT TO KINK CAPILLARY BULB TUBE.
INSTALLATION
1. Mount the expansion valve to the bracket
on the sid e of main heater housing.
2. Connect the inlet and outlet connections to
expansion valve. Tighten inlet pipe clam p.
NOTE: When connecting the in let and outlet
connections to the expansion valve, be su re to u se
new O -ring s e a ls , w ell lubricated with clean com ­
p r e sso r o il, at each fitting connection.
3. Connect the equalizer lin e to the P.O.A.
valve and mount the capillary bulb to the evapor­
ator outlet pipe (locate just below the P .O .A .).
NOTE: B e su re to wrap insulating tape around
in sta lled capillary bulb and evaporator outlet pipe.
