Preparation
prepare a «quilt sandwich» by placing a layer of batting

between the quilt top and the backing fabric (fabric will be
right sides out)
pin or baste layers together

Sewing
place the quilt sandwich under the needle and sew the stipple

stitch as desired across the fabric.
