TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem
The engine will not start.
The engine is hard to start.
The engine lacks power.
The AC receptacle does
not work.
The generator makes a
"spark knock" or "pinging"
noise.
If problem persists after trying the above solutions, contact an authorised service centre for assistance.
The following symptoms may indicate problems that will affect the emissions level of the product:
Hard starting or stalling after starting
Rough idle
Misfiring or backfiring under load
Afterburning (backfiring)
Black exhaust smoke or high fuel consumption
If you encounter any of these symptoms, have the product inspected and repaired at an authorised service centre.
Possible cause
Engine choke/off selector knob is
in "run" position.
No fuel.
Stale fuel or water in the fuel.
Lubricant level is low.
Spark plug is faulty, fouled, or
improperly gapped.
Engine stored without treating
or draining unleaded fuel, or
refueled with bad unleaded fuel.
The air filter is dirty.
Water in the fuel.
Weak spark at spark plug.
Engine stored without treating
or draining unleaded fuel, or
refueled with bad unleaded fuel.
The air filter is dirty.
Item plugged in is defective.
The generator is overloaded.
An occasional light "knocking" or
"pinging" under heavy load is not
a cause for concern. However, if
the knocking or pinging occurs
under normal load at a steady
engine speed, the problem may
be with the brand of unleaded
fuel being used.
Solution
Move engine choke/off selector knob to "choke"
position.
Fill fuel tank.
Drain entire system and refuel with fresh unleaded
fuel.
Check engine lubricant level and fill, if necessary.
Replace spark plug.
Drain entire system and refuel with fresh unleaded
fuel. If problem continues, have the product
serviced by an authorised service centre.
Check the air filter. Clean or replace as needed.
Drain entire system and refuel with fresh unleaded
fuel.
Replace the spark plug. If problem continues,
have the product serviced by an authorised
service centre.
Drain entire system and refuel with fresh unleaded
fuel. If problem continues, have the product
serviced by an authorised service centre.
