DRIVING SAFELY
Stop & Start
Going into engine STOP mode
The "S" warning lamp comes on in
the instrument panel and the engine
goes into standby:
-
with a manual gearbox; with the vehicle
stationary, put the gear lever into neutral,
then release the clutch pedal,
-
with an electronic gearbox; with the
vehicle stationary, maintain pressure on
the brake pedal or put the gear lever in
position N .
In certain circumstances, STOP mode may
not be available; a message appears in the
instrument panel screen, accompanied by the
"S" warning lamp, which fl ashes for a few
seconds then goes off.
Automatic stopping of the engine is only
possible after a speed of about 6 mph
(10 km/h) has been exceeded, to avoid
repeated stopping of the engine when
driving slowly.

Going into engine START mode
The "S" warning lamp goes off and
the engine restarts:
-
with a manual gearbox; press the clutch
pedal,
-
with an electronic gearbox;
● gear lever in position A or M , release
the brake pedal,
● or gear lever in position N and the brake
pedal released, move the gear lever to
position A or M ,
● or engage reverse.
In certain circumstances, START mode may be
invoked automatically; a message appears in
the instrument panel screen, accompanied by
the "S" warning lamp, which fl ashes for a few
seconds then goes off.

Familiarisation
Deactivation/Reactivation
You can deactivate the system at any time by
pressing the "S - OFF" button; the warning
lamp in the button comes on, accompanied by
a message in the instrument panel screen.
The system is automatically reactivated every
time the engine is started with the key.
Before refuelling, before doing anything
under the bonnet or before leaving the
vehicle, you must switch off the ignition
with the key.
