S7999B SYSTEM DISPLAY

SAFETY FEATURES

The S7999B contains software that incorporates many
features that are designed to guide you safely through the
commissioning process. Safety, however, is your
responsibility.
Read all documentation carefully and respond appropriately to
all error messages.
Be aware that as you command the R7999 to open and close
actuators, the R7999 is designed to prevent you from opening
or closing them too rapidly. When any of the system actuators
are below 20% of their open position, the R7999 effectively
limits any actuator from traveling more than three degrees
without moving the other actuators in the system. When all the
actuators are over 20% of their open position, the limit
increases to 10 degrees.
WARNING
Explosion Hazard.
Improper configuration can cause fuel buildup and
explosion.
Operators of this display may move fuel and/or air
actuators to positions that can create hazardous
burner conditions. Improper user operation may result
in PROPERTY LOSS, PHYSICAL INJURY or DEATH.
The S7999B System Display device is to be used only
by experienced and/or licensed burner/boiler
operators and mechanics.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The S7999B can be configured in several different modes:
local, switchable, and system. One of these modes is selected
for the S7999B in the User Preferences page. The mode
chosen determines the role and scope that this S7999B has in
the configuration.

LOCAL MODE

The S7999B manages only a single burner/boiler system
attached to COM 2 port (see Fig. 6). In this mode, COM 1 has
several options:
• Not used (see Fig. 6). The device's responsiveness can be
improved slightly if COM 1 is not used.
• ControLinks™ commissioning (see Fig. 8)
• Connected to System Modbus™ Network (see Fig. 10).
NOTE: This configuration only allows one S7810M and one
ControLinks™, which can be on the COM 1 port or
on the S7810M ControlBus.

SWITCHABLE MODE

The S7999B manages a series of Modbus™ nodes (up to 99
addresses) consisting of 7800 SERIES Burner Controls,
ControLinks™, and UDC devices (see Fig. 2).

SYSTEM MODE

S7999B manages a series of (up to 99) local systems in a
S7999B Modbus™ network (see Fig. 12).
Both Switchable and System configurations allow multiple
burner/boiler systems to be viewed at the S7999B. The
Switchable configuration differs from the System configuration
in two ways:
• Method of viewing the systems
In the Switchable configuration, only one system can be
viewed at a time, and the user must "switch" between each
Local system via a drop-down menu. In the System
configuration, all Local systems are displayed graphically,
and the user "zooms" into a specific system for more
information.
• Addressing the Modbus™ nodes or systems
In the Switchable configuration, addressing the Modbus™
nodes is done manually, and careful Modbus™ addressing
is required because duplicate addresses aren't allowed.
Manual assignment of UDC controllers to their respective
systems is required. In the System configuration,
Modbus™ addresses of the nodes are learned by the
System S7999B, so manual assignment isn't necessary.
Be sure not to duplicate Modbus™ addresses in the nodes.
