Do not expose charger to rain or snow. Use only recommended attachments. Use of an attachment not recom- mended or sold by the battery charger manufacturer may result in a risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons. To reduce the risk of damage to electric plug or cord, pull by the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the charger. -
Page 6: Personal Precautions
Use this charger for charging a LEAD-ACID battery only. It is not intended to supply power to a low voltage electrical system other than in a starter- motor application. Do not use this battery charger for charging dry-cell batteries that are commonly used with home appliances. These batteries may burst and cause injury to persons and damage to property. -
Page 7: Charger Location
Clean the battery terminals before charging the battery. During cleaning, keep airborne corrosion from coming into contact with your eyes, nose and mouth. Use baking soda and water to neutralize battery acid and help eliminate airborne corrosion. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Add distilled water to each cell until the battery acid reaches the level specified by the battery manufacturer. -

6.5. If the positive post is grounded to the chassis, see step 6.6. For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip from the battery charger to the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery. -

BATTERy CHARGING - AC CONNECTIONS This battery charger is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit. NOTE: The NIN-800A intermittently draws more than 15 amps of current. We recommend that you either install a 20 amp circuit or do not run anything else on the same circuit as the NIN-800A or you may trip the breaker supplying the AC power. -

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 11.1 Connect the battery cable assembly to the NIN-800A with the quick-con- nect connector on the back of the unit. 11.2 Connect the battery cable assembly to the battery as described in sections 6 and 7. 11.3 Plug the NIN-800A into a 120V AC wall outlet. NOTE: The NIN-800A intermittently draws more than 15 amps of current. -

Press the CHARGE ON/OFF button to restart the charge cycle. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 12.1 Before performing maintenance, unplug and disconnect battery charger (see sections 6.7 and 7.6). 12.2 After use, unplug and use a dry cloth to wipe all battery corrosion and other dirt or oil from terminals, cords, and the charger case. -
