Accessing the Menu
You can manually set the voicemail alert SMS message to match that sent
by the network when a new voicemail is received, if it is not already set. To
do this turn voicemail on, ring your handset and leave yourself a voicemail
message. The next text message to arrive will be the network's alert to the
handset that voicemail is waiting. Copy down this message, then go to the
Message/Voicemail/Alert match menu option, enter the message and
save it.
If the voicemail alert message from the network varies according to the
number of voicemail messages the network is holding for you - for example
the message sent sometimes reads "1 new voice message" and other
times might read "2 new voice messages" - you can set a wildcard in the
Alert match option by inserting a "?". Thus you would enter the wild carded
text message "? new voice message" in the Alert match option. The
handset can then correctly identify these messages as voicemail alerts and
display the correct icon.
If desired, you could also save your voicemail box number to a speed dial
location to provide one-touch access.
