Connecting the printer to your computer

Your printer has a parallel interface port which allows you to use IBM
PCs and compatible computers. Your printer also has a universal serial
bus (USB) port. The universal serial bus is an interface which allows the
printer to be connected to multiple peripheral devices. If your PC has a
USB port, you can connect your printer to your PC by using a USB
interface.
Using parallel port
You should use a Centronics parallel interface cable that supports bi-
directional communications (IEEE-1284 compliant). Ask your dealer for
assistance if you need help selecting the correct cable.
1. Make sure that both the printer and the computer are turned off.
2. Plug the parallel interface cable (printer cable) into the connector on
the back of the printer. Push the clips at each end of the connector into
the notches on the parallel interface cable. The clips snap into place
when pushed into the notches.
3. Plug the other end of the parallel interface cable into the parallel
connector on your computer.
