Start-up of your BudgeTone 101 telephone
First steps with the BT-101

Congratulations on the purchase of your
Internet telephone!

Your telephone is already pre-configured for your sipgate account, so that you can attach

First attach the handset, by connecting the enclosed coiled cable down at
the handset base and at the left side of the telephone.
Attach the telephone with the enclosed white network cable to your

Internet connection. One end of the cable must be connected to a 10 Mbit
Ethernet port (e.g. on one router). The other end has to be connected to
rear wall of the telephone. You router must be set to assign an IP address
automatically to the telephone by DHCP. You may need to adjust your router
to do this.

Attach the power pack. The appropriate socket is directly beside the net-
work connection on the back of the equipment.
First start: The telephone starts now and the display lights up blue. From

the first start with an existing Internet connection the telephone downloads
new configuration files from our server. This procedure lasts approximately
5 minutes and may not be interrupted. If the telephone did not flash longer
than 30 seconds, the update was terminated.
Overview of the device's functions

Arrow keys: With these keys you change
the ring volume or change selections on
the menu.
Speakerphone: With this key you
activate the hands free function.
It makes the phone useable while
the handset is in the cradle.
During a conversation, you may
switch to speaker mode. In
order to switch back to the
handset, just pick it up.
Repeated pressing of the
speakerphone key termina-
tes the discussion!
Send: Activates the re-dialling.
With the handset taken off or an
activated loudspeaker, pressing this key will
automatically call the last number dialled.

After the automatic update, the display lights up blue and

tional. If you take the handset off, you will hear a dial tone.
You are now reachable on your sipgate phone and can select dif-
ferent sipgate participants and free o8oo-Numbers in England,
Germany and Austria. For other calls, such as those to normal
fixed-lines, or mobiles, you will need credit on your sipgate ac-
count. You may credit your account after logging in, then go to
account & billing and credit your sipgate account.

Called: To return a call to previously called num-
bers, page through (with the arrow keys); then
press the send key to dial.
Menu: The IP
address is shown
when the handset
is lifted.
Callers: This shows
a list of people who
called you. To return a
call, page through (with
the arrow keys), then press
the send key to dial.
Pound: After dialling the num-
ber you, pressing pound starts
the call connection immediately.
Otherwise it normally waits for 5
seconds before connecting.
This key is not currently used.
Mute/Del: The connection switches to mute
or sound. You may also delete the number
selected on the menu, such as the last number
dialled.
