11. MAINTENANCE

11.1 GENERAL

The inherent quality of the solid-state components in STANDARD HORIZON
radios will provide many years of continuous use. Take the following precau-
tions to prevent damage to the radio:
 Never key the microphone unless an antenna or suitable dummy load is
connected to the transceiver.
 Use only STANDARD HORIZON-approved accessories and replacement parts.

11.2 FACTORY SERVICE

In the unlikely event that the radio fails to perform or needs servicing, please

11.3 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

SYMPTOM
T h e U S A / I N T L / C A N
modes do not function.
Cannot output sound by
pressing and holding the
SQL key.
Charge indicator does
not appear on the display
when charging a battery.
Cannot turn the trans-
ceiver OFF.
The transceiver is unrespon-
sive to keypad operation.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Proper operation not fol-
lowed.
Low battery.
Audio volume level is too
low.
Defective built-in battery.
The transceiver is not set
onto the SBH-25 Charger
Cradle properly.
Power is not supplied
to the SBH-25 Charger
Cradle.
The Micro Computer has
frozen.
REMEDY
Specify the item number from
"SETUP MENU" – "CHANNEL
SETUP" – "CHANNEL GROUP".
Charge battery. Refer to section 6.1
of this manual.
Press the [VOL+] key until back-
ground noise outputs.
Contact Standard Horizon dealer.
Set the transceiver onto the SBH-
25 Charger Cradle properly.
Connect SAD-23/SAD-11 or E-
DC-19A to the SBH-25 Charger
Cradle for AC/DC power supplies.
Press and hold the POWER switch
for over 15 seconds to restart the
transceiver.
