VOICE OPERATED TRANSMISSION (VOX)

Using the VOX feature, you can operate the transceiver hands-free. In order to use
this feature, however, you must use an optional headset; VOX will not function with
the built-in microphone. For best operation conditions, we recommend you use an
optional headset with both an ear piece and a microphone on a boom that rests in
front of your mouth.
Set the VOX and the VOX Gain level, perform the following steps:

◆ To use the VOX function, you need to set the VOX GAIN LEVEL and VOX DELAY TIME to
set up in Setting mode {p.59}.

Set up a VOX gain level from " 1" to "10".

Connect a headset to the transceiver.
The VOX function does not activate when a headset is not connected to
the SP/MIC jack of the transceiver.

Enter the Channel setup mode {p.15}

Press the Menu button then press
(VOX function activate) .

Press the Menu button to confirm the selection, then press the PTT switch or
the Side button to return to the operation mode.

To transmit, speak into the headset.
You do not need to press the PTT switch; the transceiver automatically
detects your voice and begins transmitting. The LED lights red.

To stop transmitting, stop speaking.
Transmission will continue momentarily after you stop speaking. You can
select the delay time as described on p.60.

◆ If a headset is connected to the transceiver while the VOX function is switched ON and
the VOX Gain level is configured to a higher, more sensitive level, louder received signals
may cause the transceiver to start transmitting.
