Application Examples
6.3 Example of an application "Determining transmit power"
Note
Maximum transmit power is limited by the hardware
Remember that the maximum achievable transmit power is limited physically by the reader.
When using the Power Ramp, remember to include already active UHF algorithms that affect
the transmit power (Read/Write Boost). The maximum physical transmit power cannot be
exceeded.
Possible error symptoms and how to counter them:
Error symptom 1:
The power setting usually has a value close to or identical to the set Power Ramp high limit.
Countermeasure 1:
Increase the Power Ramp high limit. If this is not possible, modify the antenna configuration
(see example "Example of an application "optimize antenna position" (Page 67)") or select a
different antenna.
Error symptom 2:
The Power Ramp low limit is not adequate to identify the transponders. Too many steps are
required to reach the necessary power.
Countermeasure 2:
Increase the Power Ramp low limit and, if necessary the step size (Boost Step Size ANT1 or
Boost Step Size ANT2).
