Application Examples

6.1

SIMATIC RF-DIAG can be used in conjunction with the PC adapter in two different

scenarios:

● "Operation in the plant"

● "Operation in a test setup"

Operation in the plant

SIMATIC RF-DIAG is used to set up, assign parameters to or diagnose an RF620R/RF630R

reader installed in the plant.

The RF620R/RF630R reader is installed in the plant and connected to a communications

module.

The PC adapter for RF-DIAG is now inserted between the communications module and

reader and the sequence is restarted in the plant. As long as no PC is connected to the

adapter via USB, communication between the communications module and reader remains

unaffected. The adapter does not disrupt operation. As soon as a PC is connected to the

adapter via USB, communication from the reader is redirected to the PC. The power supply

of the reader via the communications module is not interrupted. No separate power supply is

necessary.
