NOTE: Be careful not t odamage the threads onthe shaft.
7. Carefully position the hex shaft downward
and tothe leftbefore
carefully sliding the friction wheel assembly
offthe shaft. See
Figure 31.
NOTE: Ifyou're r eplacing
the friction wheel assembly
asawhole,
discard the worn p art and slide t he new part o nto the hex shaft.
Follow t he steps a bove inreverse order toreassemble
components.
If
you're disassembling
the friction wheel and replacing
only the rubber
ring, proceed asfollows:
1. Remove the four s crews which s ecure the friction wheel's side
plates together. See Figure 32.
2. Remove the rubber ring from between the plates.
3. Reassemble
the side plates with anew rubber ring.
NOTE: When r eassembling
the friction wheel assembly,
make s ure
that t he rubber ring iscentered
and seated properly between the side
plates. Tighten each s crew only o ne rotation before turning the wheel
clockwise
and proceeding
with the next screw. Repeat this process
several times t oensure the plates are secured with equal force
(between
6flabs a nd 9flabs).
4. Slide t he friction wheel assembly
back o nto the hex shaft and
follow the steps a bove i nreverse order toreassemble
components.
5. Perform the Drive C ontrol Test outlined earlier inthe Service and
Maintenance
section.
