DECORATIVE EFFECTS

In addition to normal overlocking which is fully described in this
instruction book, your machine can also be used for a number
of decorative applications such as decorative top-stitching,
butted seams, pin-tucking or making lengths of decorative
braid. See below.
Decorative top-stitching – using only two threads or
using three threads (flat seam)
Fold fabric along the line to be top-stitched and sew over the
folded edge, making sure not to cut into the fold. Fig. A.
Unfold the fabric, pull the ends of the threads to the underside
and press flat.
The final appearance can be enhanced by using buttonhole
twist or embroidery thread on the lower looper.
Butted seams – using only two threads or using three
threads (flat seam)
Place two pieces of fabric wrong sides together and overlock
along the edge. Unfold and press.
By using different coloured fabrics and thread a pleasing
§patchwork§ effect can be achieved.
Pin-tucking – using three threads
Fold fabric along a line to be pin-tucked and overlock sew
along the folded edge, making sure not to cut into the folded
edge of the fabric. (See page 62). Pull ends of threads to the
underside and press.
Making decorative braid – using three threads
Overlock over a cord or braid, holding it carefully with both
hands, making sure not to cut the edge. (See page 62).
NOTE : * If you use blind hem foot (option, see page 70),
decorative stitch is made easily.
** Reduce the upper looper tension when you use thick
thread.

En plus de leur efficacité pour l'assemblage,
surjeteuses-raseuses peuvent aussi s'employer pour de
nombreux travaux décoratifs comme les coutures à plat, les plis
dressés ou les bandeaux décoratifs.

POINTS DECORATIFS A PLAT – SEULEMENT AVEC 2
FILS OU AVEC 3 FILS (SURFILAGE À PLAT)
Plier le tissu le long de la ligne à coudre et coudre sur le côté
plié, en étant sûr de ne pas couper dans le pli. Fig. A.
Déplier le tissu, tirer les bouts finaux des fils sur l'envers et
repasser à plat.
L'apparence finale peut être optimisée par l'utilisation sur le
boucleur inférieur d'un fil de passe ou à broder spécial.
ASSEMBLAGE A PLAT – SEULEMENT AVEC 2 FILS
OU AVEC 3 FILS (SURFILAGE À PLAT)
Plaçer deux morceaux de tissu à l'envers ensemble et surjeter
le long du bord. Déplier et repasser.
En utilisant des tissus de couleurs différentes et des fils
contrastés, on peut obtenir un joli effet "patchwork".
PLIS DRESSES – SEULEMENT AVEC 3 FILS
Plier le tissu à l'endroit du pli souhaité et coudre le long du
bord, en étant sûr de ne pas couper dans le pli (voir page 62).
Tirer les extrémités des fils vers l'envers et repasser le pli à plat.
BANDEAUX DECORATIFS – SEULEMENT AVEC 3 FILS
Piquer par dessus la bande (de part en part), en maintenant la
bande délicatement avec les deux mains. S'assurer de ne pas
couper le côté. (Voir page 62).
NOTE : * Si vous utilisez le pied à ourlet invisible (option, voir
page 70), vous pouvez facilement obtenir un
excellent point décoratif.
** Diminuer la tension du boucleur inférieur pour
l'utilisation d'un fil gros.
