TROUBLESHOOTING
DANGER: ALWAYS DISCONNECT SPARK PLUG BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REMEDY.
TROUBLE
LOOK FOR
REMEDY
Difficult starting,
Engine runs erratic
Defective spark plug
Replace defective plug.
Blocked fuel line, or
Empty gas tank or
Stale gasoline
Clean fuel line; check fuel supply; make sure
fuel shut-off valve is in open position,
add fresh gasoline.
Engine stalls;
Loss of power;
Engine runs erratic
Unit running on CHOKE
Set choke lever to RUN position.
Gas cap vent
hole plugged
Remove ice and snow from cap.
Be sure vent hole is clear.
Water or dirt in
fuel system.
Remove carburetor bowl to drain fuel tank.
Refill with fresh fuel.
CAUTION: Do not remove carburetor bowl when the engine is hot
Excessive vibration
Loose parts;
Damaged impeller
Stop engine immediately and remove spark plug wire;
tighten all bolts and make all necessary repairs. Ifvibration
continues, have the unit serviced by a competent
repairman.
Unit fails to propel itself
Drive belt loose
or damaged
Replace drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in
Adjustments/Repair section of this manual.
Incorrect adjustment of
traction drive cable
Adjust traction drive cable. Refer to Cable Adjustment
in Adjustment/Repair section of this manual.
Worn or damaged
friction disc
Replace friction disc. Refer to Friction Disc Replacement
in Adjustment/Repair section of this manual.
Unit fails to
discharge snow
Auger drive belt loose
or damaged
Adjust auger drive belt; replace if damaged. Refer to
Belt Adjustment or Belt Replacement in Adjustment/
Repairs section of this manual.
Auger control cable
not adjusted correctly
Shear bolt broken
Adjust auger control cable. Refer to Cable Adjustment
in Adjustments/Repairs section of this manual.
Replace shear bolt. Refer to Auger Shear Bolt
Replacement in Adjustments/Repairs section of this
manual.
Discharge chute clogged
Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire.
Clean discharge chute and inside of auger housing. Refer
to last Danger in Snowblower Operation in Operation sec
tion of this manual.
Foreign object lodged
in auger
Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire.
Remove object from auger. Refer to last Danger in
Snowblower Operation in Operation section of this
manual.
Identifying Your Snowblower
Your new Snowblower has two (2) identifying numbers: (1) unit model number; (2) unit serial number.
The two preceding numbers are required to insure proper replacement parts are obtained when required.
Ifyou have any questions concerning parts, service or technical data, contact your nearest Sears Service Department.
