    1. PREPARE THE INSTALLATION WARNING When performing installation, servicing or cleaning the unit, it is recommended to wear safety glasses and gloves. NOTE: Before proceeding to the installation, check the contents of the box. If items are missing or damaged, contact the manufacturer.     4. CHOOSE THE OPENING ( CONT'D OR HORIZONTAL DISCHARGE From outside the unit, remove the knockout from back of hood (see illustration beside). HR0123 5. BLOWER REMOVAL (HORIZONTAL DISCHARGE ONLY) The EW54 Series range hoods are factory shipped with the blower mounted for a vertical discharge configuration. For a horizontal discharge configuration, disassemble the blower from the inner top of the hood (see procedure below).

    7. WIRING INSTALLATION WARNING Improper grounding can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if there is any doubt as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. Do not use an extension cord.

    10. INSTALL THE HOOD WARNING BE CAREFUL when installing the decorative flue and hood, they may have sharp edges. CAUTION DO NOT REMOVE the protective plastic film covering the decorative flue (upper & lower) yet. 1. Align the hood and center it above the hood mounting bracket. Gently lower the hood until it securely engages the bracket.

    13. PREPARE THE DECORATIVE FLUE Remove protective plastic film covering the lower flue only. Peel off both corners at the top of the upper flue (note that upper part has one hole on left and right sides; see image on the right). Position the lower flue rear notches down.
  • Page 9 (A) after installation. HD0939 16. LIGHTING The Broan Elite EW54 Series range hoods require two shielded Halogen Bulbs (120 V, 50 W max., MR16 or PAR16 with GU10 base), included. See service parts list for replacement bulbs. WARNING Do not touch lamps during or soon after operation.

    17. CARE WARNING Before servicing or cleaning the unit, switch power off at service panel and lock service panel to prevent power from being switched on accidentally. When the service disconnecting means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel. Grease Filters The grease filters should be cleaned frequently.

EXTRACCIÓN DEL VENTILADOR IMPELENTE (DESCARGA HORIZONTAL SOLAMENTE) Las campanas de la serie EW54 vienen de fábrica con el ventilador impelente montado para una configuración de descarga vertical. Para una configuración de descarga horizontal, desmonte el ventilador desde la parte superior interna de la campana (véase abajo cómo proceder).

Consulte a un electricista cualificado si no comprende bien las instrucciones de puesta a tierra o si tiene dudas sobre la puesta a tierra del aparato. No utilice el aparato con un cable prolongador.
