Using the AUX Port as Backup Console Port
Symptom
When the console port is faulty, you can use the AUX port as the backup console port to
complete router configuration.
Solution
Make sure that the work mode of the AUX port is flow.
Power off the router, connect the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to the AUX
port, and then connect the DB-9 (female) connector to the serial port of the
configuration terminal.
Power on the router.
The AUX port can only be used normally after user level and password are configured.
The AUX port can work in the flow or protocol mode. The AUX port can be used as the
backup console port only when it works in the flow mode.
The AUX port works in the flow mode by default.
Use the async mode { flow | protocol } command to switch between the flow mode and
the protocol mode. For more information, refer to HP SR6600 Routers User Manual.
