Miscellaneous Settings

Voice Compander Feature

The voice compander feature reduces noise components from the transmitted audio to
provide clearer communications.
1. Press and hold the F key to enter the Set mode.
2. Press the [▲] or [▼] key to select Set Mode Item "7 COMPANDE".
3. Press the F key to enable adjustment of this Set Mode Item.
4. Press the [▲] or [▼] key to select "ON" or "OFF
(default setting)".
5. Press the PTT switch to save the new setting and
return to normal operation.

Inversion Scramble (Asian version only)

The Inversion scramble feature prevents others from easily listening to the audio. When
activated, the transceiver distorts the voice so others listening without Inversion Scramble
enabled, will not be able to clearly hear the conversation.
To use this feature, the other (FT-65R/E) station must also complete the
following procedure to set Inversion Scramble.
1. Press and hold the F key to enter the Set mode.
2. Press the [▲] or [▼] key to select Set Mode Item "39 SCRAMBLE".
3. Press the F key to enable adjustment of this Set Mode Item.
4. Press the [▲] or [▼] key to select "SCRB.ON" or
"SCRB.OFF (default setting)".
5. Press the PTT switch to save the new setting and
return to normal operation.
