Hooking up optional components

To enhance your system, you can connect optional components. Refer to the operating instructions
provided with each component. European model is used for illustration purpose.
From the audio output jack of an
optional analog component
A AUDIO IN jack
Use audio cord (not supplied) to connect an
optional analog component (Portable Audio
Player, etc.) to this jack. You can then record or
listen to the sound from the component through
this system.
Listening to audio from a
connected component

Connect the audio cord (not supplied). See
"Hooking up optional components".

Press FUNCTION repeatedly until "AUDIO
IN" appears.

Start playing the connected component.

Recording audio from
connected component

Connect the audio cord (not supplied).

Start recording manually. See "Recording
on a tape manually" on page 19.
Notes
• If the connected component has the AVLS
(Automatic Volume Limiter System) function, be
sure to turn off the function when using the AUDIO
IN. Otherwise, you will have to turn up the volume
of the speaker, and that may cause distortion.
• If the connected component has the BASS BOOST
or MEGA BASS function, be sure to turn off the
function when using the AUDIO IN. Otherwise, the
sound from the speaker may be distorted.
