twigs over the burner as shown in Figure 6 .
Adjusting Arm
Refer to the detailed log placement instruc-
tions provided in the LOG PLACEMENT GUIDE
accompanying this document.
Proper twig placement is critical to prevent
sooting. Twigs should be placed in the gaps
between the flame peaks and should be posi-
tioned so that at no time they impinge the
flames.

the front burner section will cause poor com-
bustion.
When properly positioned, the rockwool will
unevenly cover approximately 65% of the front
burner with no appreciable gaps or openings.
Do not place ember materials over large ports
- refer to the LOG PLACEMENT GUIDE.

Vermiculite Placement

Mound up a portion of the vermiculite (with a
mixture of black and gray ceramic fiber chunks)
in front of burner and grate. Taper off mound to
the front and at the sides. Spread the remaining
vermiculite evenly over the bottom surface of
the appliance firebox bottom plate as desired
to achieve an esthetically pleasing appearance.
For best results, spread in a non-uniform man-
ner while ensuring complete coverage of the
tan sheetmetal surface.
