Power Switch

Use the POWER switch to turn the server on and off.

Power On

Press the POWER switch on the front of the computer chassis.
The POWER/SLEEP LED lights green in color.
IMPORTANT:
If the power cord is connected to a power control device such as a UPS
!
(Uninterruptive Power Supply), make sure that the power control device
is powered.
If the power cord is connected to the server, an initial diagnosis of the
!
hardware starts. The POWER switch does not work while in diagnosis.
Wait for about 10 seconds, and then press the POWER switch.
Do not turn off the server until characters following the "OEM" logo
!
appear on the screen.

POST

POST (Power On Self-Test) is the server's self-diagnostic program stored in the system BIOS.
When you power on the server, the system automatically runs POST to check the motherboard,
ECC memory module, CPU module, keyboard, and mouse. POST also displays messages of the
BIOS setup utility, such as the start-up message, while in progress.
With the factory setup of the server, the OEM logo appears on the display unit while POST is in
progress. (To display the POST check results, press Esc.)
