Trimming/Mowing Grass Using A Trimmer Head
CAUTION!
Do not push the rotating trimmer line
into trees, wire fences or any material
that could entangle or break line.
Your Shindaiwa B450 brushcutter can be
equipped with one of several Shindaiwa
trimmer head models, each with designed
features for specific applications and/or to
meet operational requirements.
For the correct application and operation,
always refer to the instructions included
with the trimmer head. Available trimmer
head models include:
 Automatic: The trimmer head will auto-
matically feed line during operation.
 Semi-automatic: Trimmer line is fed
when the head is rotating and operator
taps the trimmer head line release but-
ton on the ground.
 Manual: The operator pulls the line out
manually while the head is completely
stopped.
 Fixed: The operator must stop the
machine and add new pre-cut lengths of
trimmer line manually.
CAUTION!
Operation at low speed may cause
premature clutch failure.
For best cutting performance and
extending trimmer line life follow this
recommended procedures when using a
string-type-cutting head. See Figure 30.
 Cut from left to right, with the trimmer
head angled slightly towards the cut.
 Use full throttle when cutting, then
release the throttle momentarily before
beginning the next cut.
 Cut only with the tip of the trimmer line.
