Safety Guide Describes the information you need to know before using the printer and to operate the printer safely. Setup Guide Provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up your printer.

    If you cannot remove the paper jam by doing the procedures in the manual, do not try to forcibly remove the jam. Doing so may cause injuries. Contact your local Fuji Xerox representative. Never play the CD-ROM supplied with the product on an audio player. Always use a CD-ROM player.

    Installing Optional Accessories You can make the printer more functional by installing the optional accessories such as the 512MB Memory, the 550 Sheet Feeder, the Wireless Network Kit b/g/n, the Font Kit, and the Hard Disk Unit. This section describes how to install these printer's options.
  • Page 37 Hold the edge of the memory module with the labeled side down and the connector toward the control board, and then insert it into the slot. Push the memory module firmly into the slot. NOTE: • Ensure that the memory module is firmly fixed in the slot and does not move easily. Align the guide on the control board cover with the slot around the control board, and slide it towards the front of the printer.

     Installing the Optional 550 Sheet Feeder IMPORTANT: • If you install the optional 550 sheet feeder after setting up the printer, be sure to turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, and disconnect all cables from the rear of the printer before installing the feeder. NOTE: •...
  • Page 42 Lift the optional 550 sheet feeder and align the five guide pins of the other 550 sheet feeder with the holes at the bottom of the feeder. Gently lower the feeder onto the other feeder. IMPORTANT: • Be careful not to pinch your fingers when lowering the optional 550 sheet feeder onto the other feeder. Secure the optional 550 sheet feeder to the other feeder by tightening the two screws provided with the feeder, with a coin or similar object.
  • Page 43 Grasp both sides of the bypass tray, and then pull the bypass tray from the printer. Pull the standard 550 sheet tray out of the printer about 200 mm. Hold the standard 550 sheet tray with both hands, and remove it from the printer. Lift the printer and align the five guide pins of the optional 550 sheet feeder with the holes at the bottom of the printer.

NOTE: • The screw hole is located in 145 mm recess from the front of the printer. Insert the standard 550 sheet tray into the printer, and push until it stops.

    Installing a Drum Cartridge Unpack a new drum cartridge. Insert the drum cartridge into the cartridge slot, and then push until it stops. NOTE: • The protective cover of the drum comes off while inserting the drum cartridge into the cartridge slot. You do not need to remove it in advance.

IMPORTANT: • If the optional hard disk unit is not installed on your printer, note that the data in the memory are cleared when the printer is turned off. Push the both ends of the transfer unit inward, put it on the duplexer, and then rotate the transfer unit forward.
