Connecting subsequent storage enclosures
The HPE StoreOnce 4700 Backup has two RAID controller cards and supports up to eight storage
shelves. A second shelf is connected to the RAID controller in slot 4, using a 2-meter cable.
Subsequent shelves are daisy-chained using the half-meter cables; for example, shelf 3 to shelf
1 and shelf 4 to shelf 2.
NOTE:
When adding second and subsequent Upgrade Kits, you must expand the storage as
described in the guide supplied with the Upgrade Kit. This is not required for the first expansion
shelf.
Various cabling options are possible depending upon available rack space, but the recommended
configuration is to install the Upgrade Kits evenly above and below the server unit. The following
drawing illustrates how three further Upgrade Kits may be cabled.
