SHIFTING BETWEEN "H2" AND "H4"
To shift from "H2" to "H4", reduce the
vehicle speed to less than 80 km/h (50
mph) and move the front drive control
lever.
If you have trouble shifting in cold weath-
er, reduce the vehicle speed or stop the
vehicle and reshift.
CAUTION
Never move the front drive control
lever if wheels are slipping. Stop the
slipping or spinning before shifting.
To shift from "H4" to "H2", simply move
the front drive control lever.
This can be done at any speed.
If the indicator light does not go off when
you shift the transfer into "H2", drive
straight ahead while accelerating or decel-
erating, or drive forward or backward in a
short distance.
SHIFTING BETWEEN "H4" AND "L4"
To shift between "H4" and "L4", stop
the vehicle and put the transmission in
"N". With
the brake pedal depressed,
move the front drive control lever.

SHIFTING BETWEEN "2WD" AND "4HI"
To shift from "2WD" to "4HI", reduce
the vehicle speed to less than 100 km/h
(62 mph) and push in the "2WD/4HI" but-
ton.
If the "4HI" (high speed four–wheel drive)
indicator light flashes when you push in
the "2WD/4HI" button, this reminds you
that the transfer mode is not securely in
"4HI" mode. Drive straight ahead while
accelerating or decelerating.
If the "4HI" (high speed four–wheel drive)
indicator
light
flashes and
the buzzer
sounds when you push in the "2WD/4HI"
button, this reminds you that the transfer
mode is not in "4HI" mode. Stop the ve-
hicle or reduce the vehicle speed to less
than 100 km/h (62 mph). Push the button
to turn it off, then once again to turn it
back on.
CAUTION
Never push the "2WD/4HI" button if
the wheels are slipping. Stop the slip-
ping or spinning before shifting.
2001 TUNDRA (OM34416U)
To shift from "4HI" to "2WD", push the
"2WD/4HI" button again to turn it off.
This can be done at any speed.
If the "4HI" (high speed four–wheel drive)
indicator light flashes when you push the
"2WD/4HI" button again to return to "2WD"
mode, this reminds you that the transfer
mode is not securely in "2WD" mode.
Drive straight ahead while accelerating or
decelerating, or drive forward or backward
in a short distance.
