    Preparing Your Camcorder Charging the Battery Installing the Memory Card  To Charge the Battery: 1. Power off the camcorder. 2. Make sure the battery is inserted correctly. 3. Connect the camcorder with the USB cable to the AC Adapter (and then to an electric socket) or to the computer.
  • Page 8 Important: Before installing the batteries make sure you are not near water and that your hands are dry. Opening the Battery Door Turn and hold the camcorder with the bottom facing up and the battery door facing you as shown in the diagrams below.
  • Page 9 Installing the Lithium Battery Your digital camcorder needs a lithium battery in order to operate. The battery is found separately in the packaging. To install it correctly see the diagram below: 1) Insert the battery in the battery compartment with the correct polarity facing up. 2) Use the battery clip found in the battery compartment to make sure that the battery is sitting firmly and secure.

  • Page 11 1) Locate the SD card slot to the left of the battery compartment. 2) Insert the SD memory card correctly in the direction shown. 3) Press the memory card until you hear a “Click” sound. Note: After you insert an SD memory card, the SD card icon will appear on the top right of the LCD, indicating that your SD memory card has been installed successfully.

    Note:  Check that the small battery cover lever clicks back into place and is in line with the mark line appearing on the side of the lever as shown in (B).  Make sure the water resistant battery door is closed properly before using the camcorder underwater.

    Initial Camcorder Setup When powering the camcorder ON for the first time the camcorder will take you through the initial setup.     Powering ON/OFF Your Digital Camcorder  Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camcorder. If your camcorder uses a rechargeable lithium battery, make sure the battery is fully charged.  Make sure an SDHC card has been inserted into your camcorder. (SDHC card up to 32GB - SD Card not included) Powering the camcorder ON Flip open the LCD Panel on the side of the camcorder.

    When the camcorder is first powered ON, the DV (Video) Capture Mode will be active. The icons that appear on the LCD screen are the best default settings so that you can begin to capture and enjoy clear quality photos. To change the active camcorder mode, make sure the camcorder is powered ON.

    Video Capture Mode The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital video camera. When the camcorder is first powered ON, the camcorder will be in Video Capture Mode.   • Page 19 Scene Menu The Scene Menu allows you to choose scene settings that allow your camcorder to adapt properly to your current environment. 1) Press the OK button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the „Scene‟ menu. 3) Press UP or DOWN button to highlight the desired menu selection.
  • Page 20 Image Quality Menu The Image Quality menu allows you to select the desired quality level of the images taken by your camcorder. Keep in mind that images with a higher image quality level will also take up more memory on your camcorder. 1) Press the OK button to open the menus for the current mode.

After powering on the digital video camera, press the DC (Photo) button to open the Photo Capture Mode. Properly adjusting the White Balance setting to match your current environment will allow the camcorder to properly balance the colors in the images that are taken with your camcorder.
  • Page 35 Multi SnapShots Menu When enabled, the Multi SnapShots feature allows you to take five rapid snapshots in a row with a single click of the shutter button. This feature can be effective when trying to capture a particular moment in a sporting event or other scenes with quick movements.
  • Page 36 Light Exposure Menu The Light Exposure setting helps you control the amount of light that enters your camcorder‟s lens. This setting should be adjusted when the environment is lighter or darker than normal. When the environment has more light than is needed, reduce the exposure setting (by using the negative - count) to reduce the amount of light allowed into the lens by your camcorder.
