High Speed Copy Preparation is a function to convert the recording mode of the title in DR mode. The
converted title will be copied to HDD, and makes it possible to perform high speed copy to a disc. It will take
about the same time as playback of the title to convert the recording mode.
1 Press [2, 1] to select Target Disc and press [4].
When "+R/+R DL/+RW" is selected, the video is converted to a 4:3
Aspect.
2 Press [2, 1] to select Recording Mode and
press [4].
≥The selectable recording modes differ depending on the Target
media selected in step 1.
≥When "DVD-RAM/DVD-R/DVD-R DL/DVD-RW" is selected in
step 1, selecting "EP" converts the video to a 4:3 Aspect.
3 Press [2, 1] to select when to start the
conversion.
"Now"

4 Press [3, 4, 2, 1] to select "Set" and press [OK].
5 To begin the conversion "Now":
Press [2, 1] to select "Start" and press [OK].
≥To cancel a conversion that is in progress
Press and hold [RETURN] for more than 3 seconds.
To begin the conversion "During standby":Press [OK].
≥To remove a conversion setting
After performing steps 1–4 ( 42)
Press [2, 1] to select "Yes" and press [OK].
≥Conversion begins soon after the power is switched off.
"COPY" on the unit's display remains lighted during conversion. [Only when the "FL Display" in the Setup
menu is set to "Bright" ( 85).]

≥The size of the converted programme may increase for some combinations of programme and recording
mode.
≥Recording mode conversion is paused when the power is turned on while the recording mode is converting
with power turned off. Conversion will start from the beginning again once the power is turned off.
≥The original programme remains after conversion.
≥The converted version of a programme including multiple video and audio content will contain only single
video and audio content. The "DVB Preferred Language" setting in the Setup menu ( 82) is applied.
≥When recording to DVD disc with XP mode, select the audio to record with "Audio Mode for XP Recording"
before converting the recording mode. ( 85)
≥Subtitles will not display anymore once a title with subtitles is converted.
≥In titles with the Auto Renewal Recording function ( 33) set, a programme may be unintentionally
converted while in "During standby".
So it is recommended to convert the recording mode by selecting "Now".
Conversion begins immediately after step 5.
Recording and playback are not available during conversion. Note also that
Timer recording will not be performed during conversion.
The conversion will be performed a short time after switching off the power in
a time slot for which no scheduled recording is set. If the power is switched
on during the conversion, the conversion will be cancelled, and start from the
beginning when the power is next switched off.
When "New title can be made in
standby" is displayed in the
DIRECT NAVIGATOR, the
conversion has not finished.

Create a new title on HDD in preparation for high speed copy.

When "EP" is selected, the aspect ratio of the title will be 4:3.
