4 Replacement Procedures

4.16 CPU and Thermal Module

Removing the CPU and Thermal Module

Remove the CPU thermal module according to the following procedures and Figures 4.28 and
4.29.
CAUTION:
When removing the thermal module, keep the following in mind:
1.
The thermal module can become very hot during operation. Be sure to let it cool down
before starting the repair work.
2.
If you remove the CPU thermal module, please use soft cloth with alcohol to clean the
CPU and CPU thermal module. Reapply Shinetsu 7762 grease before installing the
CPU thermal module. If you use one new CPU thermal module, please make sure
remove the release paper first.
For UMA module
1. Disconnect the thermal fan cable.
2. Remove the four spring screws securing the thermal module to the motherboard, in the
sequence indicated in Figure 4.28.
