Cleaning the Heat Exchanger and Fitting the Burner

IMPORTANT
Perform gas leak test.
WARNING
Follow cleaning agent manufacturer's safety instructions
and wear appropriate protective equipment.
WARNING
Never use a metal wire brush or mechanically driven
brushes.

1.
Remove front enclosure panel (if still installed) as
per the instructions on page 11 in this manual, and
reinstall panel upon completion of service work.
2.
Remove burner assembly as per instruction on page 20.
3.
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove residues from heat
exchanger A inside the combustion chambers.
Note: Be careful not to scratch parts which are in
contact with flue gas (use plastic brushes).
For heavy deposits use Viessmann tool
Follow Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of
the cleaning agent manufacturer. The cleaning
agents must not contain hydrocarbon-based
solvents or potassium.

If necessary, clean the combustion chamber and
heat exchanger surface A with the recommended
tool, soft brush and/or rinse with water.
Use solvent-free cleaning agents to remove heavy
residues:
- Remove deposits of combustion by-products with
alkaline agents containing detergents.
- Remove coatings and (yellowish brown) surface
discoloration with phosphoric acid-based "Antox
75 E Plus", or citric acid based CitriSurf 3050 or
CitriSurf 77 by Stellar Solutions Inc.
- Rinse thoroughly with water.
- Clean condensate siphon (see page 23).
5.
Mount burner (four torx screws T30) and tighten
diagonally to a torque of 75 lb.in. (8.5 Nm).
6.
Fasten threaded connection for the gas connection
hose with a new gasket and torque to
132 lb.in. (15 Nm).
7.
Connect electrical cables to corresponding parts.
