3.4.2 RS-232 settings
RS-232 settings provide options that can be
used to control data flow.

Flow control (cradle only)

Flow control determines how your computer
and cradle control their communication.

RTS/CTS
Xon/Xoff
Description
You computer and cradle
only use TxD and RxD signals
for communication. No
hardware or software flow
control is used.
It is hardware flow control.
If your scanner is ready to
send bar code data to your
computer, it sends an RTS
signal, and waits to receive a
CTS signal from your
computer. If your scanner
doesn't receive a CTS, you'll
hear an error beep from it.
It is software flow control.
When your computer is
unable to receive data, it
sends an Xoff signal to
notify your scanner to stop
sending data; it sends an
Xon signal when it's ready.
