LS 9208 Setup Instructions

Introduction

This document provides instructions on programming the Symbol LS 9208 scanner for use with a Verifone Ruby

Supersystem.

Note: Symbol offers a "Ruby Ready" LS 9208 kit (part number LS9208-C14R2800S), which contains an LS 9208

pre-configured for the Verifone Ruby, plus the appropriate Verifone Ruby cable.

Required Hardware

There are two possible connections for this system:

1. Powered from the Ruby and depends on the application to have the register supply power to the scanner

(recommended).

• Cable

• 25-65648-20 (Verifone Ruby TTL/RS-232, 9ft, Coiled).

2. Powered from an external power supply (does not depend on the register to supply power).

• Cable

• 25-60262-20 (RS232 Cable, True TTL, DB9 Female, TxD on 2, 6 ft. Straight), or

• 25-60262-21 (RS232 Cable, True TTL, DB9 Female, TxD on 2, 8 1/2 ft. Coiled).

• Adapters

• 13641-01 (from Verifone), and

• 13836-01 (from Verifone)

• Power Supply

• 50-14000-008 (110VAC for North America), or

• 50-14000-009 (220VAC for Europe and Asia), or

• 50-14000-010 (100VAC for Japan)

The following parameters need to be set:

• Set Default

• Standard RS-232

• Baud Rate 1200

• 8-Bit*

• 1 Stop Bit*

• Parity None*

• RTS/CTS Option 3

• Check Parity*

• Convert UPC-E to UPC-A

• Symbol Code ID Character

• Scan Suffix

• Scan Options.
