3. Bend the lock washer tab along a flat side
of the nut.
4. Install:
• Master link "1"
• O-ring "2"
• Master link plate "3"

Never install a new drive chain onto worn
drive chain sprockets; this will dramatically
shorten the drive chain's life.
5. Install:
• Master link clip "1"

6. Adjust:
• Drive chain slack

CHAIN SLACK" on page 3-21.

45–55 mm (1.77–2.17 in)

A drive chain that is too tight will overload
the engine and other vital parts, and one
that is too loose can skip and damage the
swingarm or cause an accident. Therefore,
keep the drive chain slack within the speci-
fied limits.
