• GEL : establezca el botón en GEL CELL. La batería de gel es similar al
estilo AGM ya que el electrolito se suspende, pero resulta diferente debido
a que técnicamente la batería AGM aún se considera una batería de celda
húmeda. El electrolito en una batería de GEL posee un aditivo de sílice que
provoca su fijación o endurecimiento. Las tensiones de recarga en este
tipo de baterías son menores a las tensiones del resto de los estilos de
batería de plomo-ácido. Ésta es probablemente la batería más sensible en
términos de reacciones adversas a cargas de sobretensión. Las baterías
de gel se utilizan mejor en aplicaciones de ciclos MUY PROFUNDOS y
podrían durar un poco más en aplicaciones caracterizadas por cálidas
condiciones climáticas. Si se utiliza un cargador de baterías inadecuado
en una batería de gel, es probable que se manifieste un rendimiento
insuficiente y fallas prematuras.
Botón de Tamaño de la Batería
Utilice este botón para establecer el índice máximo de carga en uno de los
siguientes:
• Batería Pequeña: Proporciona un índice de carga de hasta 2A. Destinado
para cargar baterías pequeñas, como por ejemplo, aquellas que se utilizan
en los tractores de jardín, motos de nieve y motocicletas. La 2A no está
destinada para utilizarse en un cargador de mantenimiento para baterías
más grandes.
• Baterías Grandes: Automáticamente cambia entre 12 y 30 amps, o
proporciona 10 amps continuos dependiendo de la batería. Utilizar para
cargar baterías de capacidad media a grande. No está destinada para uso
industrial.
• Encendido del Motor: Proporciona 100 amps para arrancar un motor con
una batería débil o baja. Siempre utilícelo junto con una batería.
11. INSTRUCCIONES OPERATIVAS
El cargador carece de interruptor para encendido y apagado. Los controles
para encendido y apagado se controlan conectando SC-10030A en el
tomacorriente de 120V CC y sólo después de que las conexiones de la batería
se han realizado.
Carga
1. Asegúrese de que todas las piezas del cargador estén bien instaladas y en
buenas condiciones para su función, incluyendo los protectores de plástico
de las pinzas de la batería.
2. Conectar la batería teniendo en cuenta las precauciones que figuran en las
Secciones 6 y 7.
3. Conecte la energía eléctrica de CA teniendo en cuenta las precauciones
que figuran en la Sección 8.
4. Seleccione las configuraciones apropiadas para la batería.
NOTA: Este cargador está equipado con un auto-rectificador. Este no
permitirá paso de corriente si las pinzas de la batería no están conectadas en
forma correcta. A diferencia de otros cargadores tradicionales, las pinzas no
harán corto si se juntan una con otra.

Si el cargador no detecta la batería correctamente conectada, el LED
CONECTADO (rojo) no se encenderá. La carga no comenzará mientras el
LED CONECTADO (rojo) no esté encendido.

NOTE: The charger automatically switches between Charge Mode and
Maintain Mode as necessary. The CHARGED (green) LED will cycle on when
the battery is at full charge and off when the voltage drops below a preset level
and the charger goes into Charge Mode.
General Charging Notes
Fan: The charger is designed to control its cooling fan for efficient operation.
Consequentially, it is normal for the fan to start and stop when maintaining a
fully charged battery. The fan does not run in Tester Mode. Keep the area near
the charger clear of obstructions to allow the fan to operate efficiently.
Restart: If the Charge Mode is changed after charging has started (by
pressing the CHARGE RATE or BATTERY TYPE button), the charging process
will restart.
Voltage: The voltage displayed during charging is the charging voltage and is
usually higher than the battery's resting voltage.
Using the Engine Start feature
Your battery charger can be used to jumpstart your car if the battery is low.
Follow these instructions on how to use the ENGINE START feature.
Follow all safety instructions and precautions for charging
your battery. Wear complete eye protection and clothing protection. Charge
your battery in a well-ventilated area.
Using the ENGINE START feature WITHOUT a battery
installed in the vehicle could cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
NOTE: If you have charged the battery and it still will not start your car, do not
use the engine start feature, or it could damage the vehicle's electrical system.
1. With the charger plugged in and connected to the battery and chassis (see
section 6), press the BATTERY SIZE button until the ENGINE START LED
is lit. The display mode will be automatically set to VOLTAGE.
2. Crank the engine until it starts or 3 seconds pass. If the engine does not
start, wait 3 minutes before cranking again. This allows the charger and
battery to cool down.
NOTE: During extremely cold weather, or if the battery is under 2 volts, charge
the battery for 5 minutes before cranking the engine.
3. If the engine fails to start, charge the battery for 5 more minutes before
attempting to crank the engine again.
4. After the engine starts, move the charge rate selector switch to the off
position and unplug the AC power cord before disconnecting the battery
clips from the vehicle.
5. Clean and store the charger in a dry location.
NOTE: If the engine does turn over but never starts, there is not a problem
with the starting system; there is a problem somewhere else with the vehicle.
STOP cranking the engine until the other problem has been diagnosed and
corrected.
Engine Starting Notes
During the starting sequence listed above, the charger is set to one of three
states.
Wait for cranking – The charger waits until the engine is actually being
cranked before delivering the 100 amps for engine start. The charger delivers
charge at a rate of up to 12 amps while waiting and will reset if the engine is
not cranked within 15 minutes. (If the charger resets, it sets itself to the default
start up settings). While waiting for cranking, the digital display shows the
battery voltage (it can not be set to percent).
