    Secure hair above shoulder level. • The cutting attachment shield must always be in place while operating the unit as a trimmer. Do not operate unit without both trimming lines extended, and the proper line installed. Do not extend the trimming line beyond the length of the shield.

    WARNING: Operate this unit only in a well- ventilated outdoor area. Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area. WARNING: Avoid accidental starting. Make sure you are in the starting position when pulling the starter rope (Fig. 17). To avoid serious injury, both the operator and unit must be in a stable position while starting.

    • Cut from left to right whenever possible. Cutting to the right improves the unit's cutting efficiency. Clippings are thrown away from the operator. • Slowly move the trimmer into and out of the cutting area at Fig. 18 the desired height. Move either in a forward-backward or side-to-side motion.

Line other than the specified may make the engine overheat or fail. WARNING: Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, chain or rope.
