Air and Turbulator
Settings
Before
starting
the burner
for the
first time,
adjust
the
air and
turbulator
settings
to those
listed
in this manual.
Upon
startup,
final adjustments
will be required.
Step 8 -- Oil Connections
Complete
instructions
for installing
fuel oil piping
can be found in
oil burner
Installation
Instructions
included
with the burner.
An oil filter
should
be used with
all oil burners
and should
be
installed
as close to burner
as possible.
We recommend
the use of
a low-pressure
drop oil filter such as the General
Filter Inc. model
#1A-25A
or equivalent.
UNIT
COMPONENT

Failure
to follow
this caution
may result
in unit component
damage.
This burner
is shipped
with
the oil pump
set to operate
on a
single
line
system.
To operate
on a two-line
system
the
by-pass
plug must be installed.
Do not operate
a single line
system
with the by-pass
plug installed.
Operating
a single line
system
with the by-pass
plug installed
will result in damage to
the pump
shaft
seal.
Pump
pressure
must
be set at time of
burner
start-up.
A pressure
gauge
must
be attached
to the
PRESSURE
PORT
for
pressure
readings.
Two
PIPE
CONNECTORS
are supplied
with the burner
for connection
of lines
to burner
pipe connectors.
On units
equipped
with
Riello
burners,
all pump
port
threads
are British
Parallel
Thread
design. Direct connection
of NPT threads to the pump
will damage
the pump body. Riello manometers
and vacuum
gauges
do
not
require
any
adapters,
and
can
be
safely
connected
to the pump
ports. An NPT (metric)
adapter
(Part
No. N05F017)
must
be used when
connecting
other
gauge
models.

Use only
approved
heating
type oil in this furnace.
DO
NOT USE waste oil. used motor oil, gasoline
or kerosene.
UNIT
OPERATION
HAZARD
Failure
to follow
this caution
may result
in improper
unit
operation.
When a 0.75 USGPH
or smaller nozzle
is used. a 10 micron
or finer filter, must be installed
on the oil supply line to the
furnace
inside the building
where
the unit is located.
This is
a requirement
in order for the heat exchanger
warranty
to
remain
in force.
Check
your local
codes
for the installation
of the oil tank and
accessories.
At the beginning
of each heating
season or once a year, check the
complete
oil distribution
system
for leaks.
Ensure
that the tank is full of clean oil. Use No.1 or No.2 Heating
Oil (ASTM
D396
U.S.) or in Canada,
use No.1 or No.2 Furnace
Oil.
A manual
shut-off
valve
and an oil filter
shall
be installed
in
sequence
from
tank to burner.
Be sure that the oil line is clean
before connecting
to the burner.
The oil line should be protected
to
eliminate
any possible
damage.
The fuel pump
may be installed
with gravity
feed or lift.
The maximum
allowable
lift for a single
pipe installation
is 8 ft. (2.4 M) Follow
the pump
instructions
to
determine
the size of pipe needed
in relation
to the rise or to the
horizontal
distance.

The
unit
cabinet
must
have
an uninterrupted
or unbroken
electrical
ground.
A green
ground
screw
is provided
in
control box for this connection.

Wiring
Before
proceeding
with
electrical
connections,
make
certain that
voltage,
frequency,
and phase correspond
to that specified
on unit
rating
plate. AIso, check
to be sure that service provided
by utility
is sufficient
to handle
load imposed
by this equipment.
Refer
to
rating plate or Table 3 for equipment
electrical
specifications.
Make
all
electrical
connections
in
accordance
with
National
Electrical
Code (NEC) ANSI/NFPA
70-2008
and any local codes
or ordinances
that
might
apply.
For Canadian
installations,
all
electrical
connections
must be made in accordance
with Canadian
Electrical
Code CSA C22.1 or sub-authorities
having jurisdiction.
