Connecting External Devices

The following section is necessary for those who wish
to connect the keyboard to other equipment.
Connection Jacks
ÑNames and Functions
The functions of the jacks on the rear panel and under-
side are described below.

1. MIDI Out/In Jack
You can connect external MIDI devices to the HP
535/335 and exchange performance data between
them.
* There is also a MIDI In jack on the underside of the HP
535/335. However, two MIDI In jacks cannot be used at
the same time.
2. Pedal Jack
This is for connecting the separate stand pedal cord.
3. Input Jack
Using this jack, you can connect other sound generat-
ing devices and play sounds from other devices
through the HP 535/335Õs speaker .
4. Output Jack
By connecting the HP 535/335 to audio equipment or
similar arrangements you can enjoy sound that has
more power. Additionally, by connecting the key-
board to a radio/cassette player, you can record your
performances on cassette tapes.

1. Computer Jack
You can connect a computer to the HP 535/335 and
exchange performance data between the two (p.50).
2. Computer Switch
The setting for this switch is made depending on the
computer connectedÑ Mac/PC-1/PC-2. Additionally,
this switches between MIDI In jack and the Computer
jack (p.50).
* The MIDI Out/In jack and the computer jack cannot be
used at the same time.
3. MIDI In Jack
You can connect external MIDI devices to the HP 535
and exchange performance data between them.
* There is also a MIDI In jack on the rear panel of the HP
535. However, two MIDI In jacks cannot be used at the
same time.
4. Phones Jack

Making Connections

Caution!
When using cables to connect the HP 535/335 with
other equipment, make sure you follow the procedure
below. Failure to follow these steps in the order given
could cause a malfunction and/or damage to speakers
or other equipment.
1. Turn the volume down completely on all equip-
ment.
2. Turn off the HP 535/335 and any other devices to
be connected.
3. Connect all cables and make all other connec-
tions.
4. Turn on the power to the connected equipment.
5. Turn on the power to the HP 535/335.
6. Adjust the volume.
After use, turn off the power using the following pro-
cedure.
1. Turn the volume down completely on all equipment.
2. Turn off the power to the HP 535/335.
3. Turn off the power to the equipment that is con-
nected with the HP 535/335.
